Wontumi’s Troubles Linked To NPP Chair Race—Chairman Buga Claims

Third National Vice Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Alhaji Osman Masawudu alias Chairman Buga, has alleged that Chairman Bernard Antwi Boasiako’s legal challenges are politically motivated and linked to his decision to contest the party’s national chairmanship position.

Speaking to the media, Chairman Buga claimed that the NDC government is uncomfortable with Chairman Wontumi’s ambition to lead the NPP at the national level and suggested that his recent legal troubles are connected to the internal party race.

“The Ashanti Regional Chairman declared his intention to contest the National Chairmanship race of the New Patriotic Party, I think this is part of it, and this has made Wontumi a political prisoner,” he alleged.

He accused the government of applying the law selectively, arguing that some individuals associated with illegal mining allegations have not faced similar consequences.

“NDC personalities are engaging in galamsey and nothing has been done about it,” he claimed.

Chairman Buga maintained that the legal action against Wontumi would not weaken his political influence, insisting that he would continue to enjoy support from party supporters.

“Wontumi will remain a hero,” he stated.
