Why you should never record your atopa videos – Counselor Adofoli

Following the circulation of the atopa (sex video) of DJ KA and Ama Parone, Ghanaian counselor and marriage expert Edem Adofoli is urging couples and people in relationships to think about the long-term consequences before recording intimate moments.

Speaking on JoyPrime’s Changes with host Nikki Samonas, Adofoli said there are several reasons why people choose to record intimate videos, including keeping memories, improving intimacy, satisfying curiosity or, in some cases, using the content for blackmail.

However, he maintained that he does not consider the practice necessary.

According to him, people often focus on the emotions of the moment without thinking about what could happen if the recordings become public through a stolen phone, a hacked account or a broken relationship.

“No matter how much you miss the person, you should also be thinking about your reputation,” he said, adding that intimate moments are meant to remain between two people.

Adofoli said many people only begin to consider the consequences after their private content has already surfaced online.

He advised anyone who feels uncomfortable about recording intimate moments to trust that instinct rather than give in to pressure.

“If you don’t feel safe in it, don’t do it. If your mind and your heart are telling you that this is wrong, don’t continue,” he said.
