Sedina Tamakloe’s ruling a boost for politically exposed people to loot the state—Franklin Cudjoe

President of policy think tank IMANI Africa, Franklin Cudjoe, has expressed his disappointment in the decision to free Sedina Tamakloe.

According to him, the ruling has made it clear that politically exposed people are above the law in Ghana.

The ruling, he believes, will motivate others to loot the state, and when their political party comes to power, they will be freed.

Expressing this opinion in a social media post, Franklin Cudjoe said “You can steal, you can dupe the state, run away, get extradited back to your country and when your party is in power, you will be free. On that note, Ken Ofori -Atta toa so. Live free, Live forever”.

An Appeal Court today, July 30, 2026, ruled to acquit Sedina Tamakloe.

In a 94-page judgement, the court held that the trial judge lost sight of the presumption of innocence until proven guilty, and that the prosecution failed to prove the charges against her beyond reasonable doubt.

The court also faulted the manner in which the prosecution handled the case.

Full reasoning for the decision is expected to be available by close of day.
