Cameroon moved closer to the quarter-finals of the TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2026 after beating Ghana 1-0 in their Group D match on Sunday in Casablanca.
The Indomitable Lionesses followed their 2-1 win over Mali last week with another strong performance. Marie Ngah Manga stayed in great form by scoring her third goal of the tournament. She has now scored all of Cameroon’s goals in Morocco 2026.
The match was also the 10th TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations meeting between Ghana and Cameroon since 1998.
Cameroon took the lead in the 19th minute after a VAR review gave them a penalty. Manga scored from the penalty spot to put her team ahead.
The game stayed very close, with Cameroon protecting their lead and trying to score on the counterattack. The Black Queens kept pushing to find the equaliser.
The Black Queens thought they had scored in the 80th minute when substitute Evelyn Badu put the ball into the net after the goalkeeper failed to clear it. But after another VAR review, the goal was ruled out for offside.
Ghana kept attacking in the final minutes, but Cameroon defended well and held on to their 1-0 lead to earn another important three points.
The win puts the Indomitable Lionesses in a strong position to reach the knockout stage before their final Group D match against Cape Verde. Ghana must get a good result in their last group game against Mali to keep their hopes of reaching the next round alive.
