Court freezes five bank accounts and four properties of Miracles Aboagye in GHC55m probe

Five bank accounts and four landed properties belonging to former Executive Secretary of the Inter-Ministerial Coordinating Committee on Decentralisation (IMCCoD), Dennis Edward Aboagye, popularly known as Miracles, have been frozen by an Accra High Court following an application by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO).

The order forms part of EOCO’s investigation into the alleged misappropriation of about GHC55 million at the IMCCoD, involving alleged fraud, theft and procurement-related irregularities during Mr Aboagye’s tenure.

The asset freeze comes weeks after Mr Aboagye was arrested at Kotoka International Airport on July 12 upon his return to Ghana. EOCO said he was questioned and later released after investigators uncovered new findings.

The agency said Mr Aboagye had previously honoured invitations to assist with the investigation and had been placed on a stop list to prevent travel while investigations continue.

EOCO has also confirmed the arrest of the committee’s former accountant, Gerald Appiah, as the investigation remains ongoing.
