Michael Blackson’s claims contain ‘numerous inaccuracies’ – UGMC

The University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC) has responded to allegations made by American-Ghanaian comedian Michael Blackson about the treatment of his late mother, saying his social media account contains “numerous inaccuracies.”

In a statement issued on August 5, UGMC extended its condolences to Blackson and his family but said it had thoroughly reviewed the concerns he raised.

“We wish to state unequivocally that the facts presented by Mr. Blackson on social media contain numerous inaccuracies and do not accurately reflect the events that transpired,” the hospital said.

UGMC explained that it could not publicly discuss the details of the patient’s care because of its obligation to protect patient confidentiality.

“Out of respect for the dignity of the deceased and the privacy of her family, we will not disclose or discuss in the public domain the details of any patient’s diagnosis, treatment, medical records, or account of care,” the statement added.
