Sheikh Aremeyaw Shaibu has described death as an unavoidable part of human life while reflecting on the eight people who lost their lives in the August 6, 2025 military helicopter crash.
Speaking at the National Interfaith Memorial Service held in honour of the victims today, the Official Spokesperson for the National Chief Imam said death does not follow a pattern that humans can predict.
“The hand of death reaches out and takes anyone whose time is still to go. Death remains the common plight of every human being,” he said.
The crash, which occurred on August 6, 2025, in the Adansi Akrofuom District of the Ashanti Region, claimed the lives of eight people, including two senior government ministers. The Ghana Air Force helicopter was travelling from Accra to Obuasi for an official assignment connected to efforts to formalise small-scale mining.
Sheikh Aremeyaw said the timing of death is beyond human control.
“Death strikes unmistakably at the time that God has decided because life on this earth is transitory,” he stated.
He added that moments of loss remind people about the temporary nature of life and the need to reflect on how they live.
