Nana Yaa Jantuah has called for a rethink of Ghana’s education system, arguing that students pursuing the arts should not be held back by Mathematics and Science subjects they may not need for their chosen fields.
Speaking on UTV Ghana and Adom FM, the former General Secretary of the Convention People’s Party (CPP) said the curriculum should be reviewed to prevent students from failing because of subjects outside their areas of strength.
She said, “We have to rethink our curriculum and stop failing students with maths and science” when their academic and career paths are focused on the arts.
Jantuah argued that students studying humanities, fine arts or languages do not necessarily need rigorous Mathematics testing because “they simply don’t need it.”
