Nigerian man of God Femi Lazarus has insisted that wives should submit to their husbands, saying people should not try to change what the Bible teaches about marriage.
Lazarus was speaking about what he considers the proper roles of men and women in marriage when he challenged women who refuse to submit to their husbands.
“If you are not going to submit, don’t worry,” he said during a church service.
He also criticised men who describe themselves as “woke” while accepting a relationship in which the woman openly refuses to submit to them.
According to Lazarus, men and women should follow the roles outlined in the Bible rather than creating their own definitions of marriage.
“We don’t twist what the Bible instituted. The word is the word. Love your wife, wife submit to your husband,” he said.
“That’s the culture. If you twist it, curse is the land.”
Lazarus went further to link what he sees as a breakdown of traditional family roles to the wellbeing of children.
“But when the land is cursed, the offspring comes out cursed. So children come dysfunctional,” he said.
His comments were centred on his belief that marriage should retain the roles he says were established in the Bible, rather than being reshaped according to changing social expectations.
