US-based Ghanaian journalist Afia Pokuaa, popularly known as Vim Lady, has called for an end to the personal attacks involving Ghanaian political figures, particularly women, after an unidentified social media account known as Ghana Jollof agreed to stop insulting First Lady Lordina Mahama.
Vim Lady said Ghana Jollof had agreed to a “ceasefire” on comments about Lordina after watching her appeal for the attacks to stop.
She has now challenged the Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, to also ensure that supporters of the NDC stop attacking former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia’s wife, Samira Bawumia.
“Dear Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, I think it is only fair that you call your boys to order and let them cease fire from attacking Samira Bawumia as well,” she said.
Vim Lady said political disagreements should not be allowed to descend into personal abuse, especially against women.
“As a nation, we cannot allow and enable abuse of noble citizens, especially women, to continue and turn a blind eye. We owe Ghanaian voters decent politics,” she added.
