Comedian DKB has told people he accused of antagonising Ga-Dangme interests to stop opposing initiatives he says are meant to benefit the community.
Speaking after attending the launch of the RNAQ Ga-Dangme Youth Scholarship Fund, DKB said there was a pattern of opposition whenever developments connected to the Ga-Dangme community emerged.
“Some people have taken up this attitude of antagonising the people, especially when good things are coming our way. Stop it. It’s nonsense,” he said.
He cited the controversy surrounding a proposal to rename the welcome tag at the airport to “Obaake”, saying the name reflected the identity of the area.
“We were renaming the welcome tag at the airport to Obaake, which reflects our tribe, Obaake. Some people had a problem with it. How? When the airport is on our land,” DKB said.
He said the Ga-Dangme people had welcomed others who came to live on their land and questioned why there should be opposition when projects are introduced to benefit the community.
“We have received you to stay on our land. We have been affable, welcoming. But then, when things are going to go well for their people, you have a problem,” he said.
DKB said the Ga-Dangme scholarship fund was specifically intended to support students from the community and should be protected and developed.
“Our scholarship scheme has come. We don’t want anyone. It’s designed to elevate Ga-Adangbe students,” he said.
“There is enough hatred of Ga-Adangbe people. Enough antagonisation. This is for us. We’ll protect it, and we’ll develop our own with it,” he added.
