Suspended National Sports Authority (NSA) Director-General Yaw Ampofo Ankrah says the authority needs more support to effectively manage Ghana’s sporting facilities.
Ampofo Ankrah made the comments while reflecting on his 18-month tenure at the NSA, during which the authority faced ongoing challenges with the maintenance and management of stadia and other sports facilities across the country.
Speaking to JoySports, he argued that the NSA could not reasonably be expected to manage all of Ghana’s sporting infrastructure without additional resources and dedicated structures.
“After a year and six months, it is clear that we at the NSA need help. It would be a great mistake to say that the NSA has to manage all these facilities on its own, which is what has been happening,” Ampofo Ankrah said.
“However, I did not come into office to find a maintenance fund or a maintenance department,” he added.
