A Nigerian man has torn his academic certificates, including his Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology, claiming his education has not brought him the benefits he expected.
In a video, the man displayed his certificates as he tore them, declaring that he no longer wanted to be a graduate.
“See here, now my certificates be this. Here is my BSc. This is second class upper in Psychology,” he said while showing one of the documents.
He also displayed what he identified as his original certificate and his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) certificate, pointing out his photograph on the latter.
Despite showing the documents to the camera, the man repeatedly said he was tearing them as he proceeded with the act.
“I want to be an illiterate. I don’t want to be a graduate,” he declared.
Explaining his decision, he said his education had neither helped nor rewarded him.
“He no help me. He no pay me. He no favour me,” he said, expressing frustration over what he appeared to consider the lack of benefits from his academic qualifications.
