NPP Running Mate Row: I’m Still With Napo- Nana B Reaffirms Loyalty

New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) National Second Vice Chairman, Henry Nana Boakye, popularly known as Nana B, has reaffirmed his loyalty to Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh (NAPO) amid discussions about the party’s running mate for its presidential candidate, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.

Nana B said his position within the party might limit what he could say publicly about the ongoing discussions, but he maintained that his support and loyalty remained unchanged.

“People who know me know who I support and want to be the running mate of Dr Bawumia. And everyone who also knows me knows I am loyal. I am very loyal to a particular course on any day. My support is unchanged,” he stated  while speaking on Oyerepa Radio,

Nana B’s remarks come amid discussions within the NPP over who should partner Dr Bawumia as the party’s running mate.

He noted that the party’s constitution empowers the presidential candidate to select a running mate in consultation with relevant stakeholders, suggesting the process should proceed without unnecessary tension.

“Given my position, all I can say is that our constitution has given the power to our presidential candidate, that he can choose in consultation with a lot of stakeholders,” he said.

The NPP National Second Vice Chairman added that the party had several national executives and expressed confidence that Dr Bawumia had begun consultations ahead of the decision.

He urged party members to reduce the tension surrounding the matter, stressing that the ongoing debate was not what the presidential candidate needed at this stage.

“I believe our flagbearer has started lots of consultations, and I think that we should limit the tension. It is not what the flagbearer needs,” Nana B added.
