The Ghana Education Service (GES) has dismissed 10 teachers and terminated the appointment of another over sexual misconduct, according to its Director-General, Professor Ernest Kofi Davis.
Prof. Davis said the Service would continue to sanction teachers found culpable after investigations, stressing that allegations of sexual misconduct were treated seriously.
The disclosure comes amid investigations into allegations of sexual misconduct involving female students at Obuasi Senior High Technical School, where headmaster Zakaria Abdulai has been interdicted.
The Ministry of Education has referred the case to the Criminal Investigations Department of the Ghana Police Service for investigation.
The GES has also directed the Ashanti Regional Director of Education and the Obuasi Municipal Director of Education to step aside while investigations continue, to prevent possible interference in the process.
The Service maintains that staff found to have breached professional standards will face disciplinary action.
