Adu-Boahene case: AG did not deny my facts – Lawyer

Counsel for former National Signals Bureau boss Kwabena Adu-Boahene and his wife, Angela Adjei Boateng, Samuel Atta Akyea, has said he is satisfied that the Attorney-General did not deny his claims that the prosecution’s written submissions contained false attributions to witnesses and other misstatements.

His comments followed the High Court’s dismissal of his application seeking to strike out portions of the prosecution’s submissions opposing the accused persons’ submission of no case.

Atta Akyea said he was encouraged by the prosecution’s failure to dispute the concerns he raised, despite the court rejecting his application.

“I’m very glad that the Attorney-General did not deny the fact that there are some attributions to witnesses which were false and there were some misstatements also which were not right,” he told reporters at the premises of the Supreme Court.

He said the judge had indicated that he would distinguish between arguments supported by the evidence and those that were not.

“The judge is saying that he will look at the case and he will see the difference between light and darkness and he will separate the wheat from the chaff,” Atta Akyea said.

He maintained that his intervention was intended to draw the court’s attention to what he considered inaccurate representations of the evidence, leaving the judge to determine how to deal with them.

“I brought the truth to his attention. What he does with the truth, I leave it to you,” he said.

Atta Akyea added that he was confident the court would assess the evidence and witness attributions carefully when deciding the case.
