Akofena granted Ghc500,000 bail In Adwoa Safo incident case

Kwadwo Akofena Safo has been granted bail of Ghc500,000 with two sureties by the Adentan Circuit Court following his arrest in connection with the incident involving former Dome-Kwabenya MP Sarah Adwoa Safo.

Akofena appeared before the court on Tuesday after reporting to the Regional Police Headquarters on Monday. He was subsequently transferred to the Criminal Investigations Department Headquarters to assist with investigations.

The case relates to an alleged shooting incident on June 21, 2026, which reportedly left the former legislator injured.

During proceedings, defence counsel Kwame Gyan argued that Akofena and the other accused persons are members of Kantanka Security Service, a licensed private security company, and not a vigilante group.

The court extended the same bail terms to eight other accused persons who appeared before it as investigations continue.

Police have also confirmed the arrests of Nana Kwaku Afriyie and Kwadwo Safo Koomson, in addition to six private security guards believed to be linked to the case.
