Alan Kyerematen’s agents were barred from 2024 polling stations – Solomon Owusu alleges

National Director of Communications for the United Party (UP), Solomon Owusu has alleged that polling agents assigned by Alan Kyerematen for the 2024 general election were denied access to polling stations and the Electoral Commission’s strong room.

Owusu made the claim during an interview in which he discussed concerns about the commission’s conduct and the credibility of the 2024 electoral process on Joy Prime.

He said Kyerematen, who contested the election as an independent candidate, had assigned agents to represent him, but claimed they were not allowed to carry out their duties at polling stations.

“None of Alan’s polling agents as an independent candidate was allowed in any of the polling stations. Neither was anybody allowed into the strong room, and this is a fact,” Owusu said.

He insisted that the exclusion of the agents was a serious concern because candidates should be able to have representatives observe the electoral process.

“You can’t be a contestant, a candidate for that matter, and not have a rep in the strong room,” he said.

Owusu also alleged that the agents had been assigned to various police stations but were denied access, claiming the issue affected the party’s ability to monitor the election.

He said the United Party intended to present further information about the 2024 election at a later date, including what he described as documentary evidence.

“We will do an elaborate press conference on election 2024,” he said.

Owusu added that the party was waiting for the appropriate time to release its information, describing politics as a process that required strategy and timing.

“Politics is about strategy. It’s about timing. We know when to strike on this part,” he said.
