Algeria win Fair Play award after historic WAFCON 2026 campaign

Algeria have been rewarded for their impressive conduct at the TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2026 after winning the Fair Play award.

The award comes after Algeria secured the bronze medal following a historic run at the tournament.

The Fair Play award recognises the team’s discipline, respect for opponents and match officials, as well as their behaviour both on and off the pitch.

Making their first appearance in the third-place play-off, Algeria showed strong commitment and discipline throughout the competition while representing their country with pride.

Their sporting spirit was particularly evident in the third-place match against hosts Morocco.

The North African rivals played out a 1-1 draw before Algeria won 3-2 on penalties to claim the bronze medal.

Despite the pressure of the match, both teams maintained a strong spirit of respect and sportsmanship.

The Fair Play award adds to a memorable campaign for Algeria, who reached the semi-finals and secured their first-ever podium finish at the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
