Awal Mohammed questions why Kelvin Taylor was not arrested upon arrival in Ghana

NPP communicator Awal Mohammed has questioned how US-based social commentator Kelvin Taylor was able to enter Ghana and appear in court despite an existing arrest warrant against him.

Speaking during an interview, Mohammed argued that individuals with active arrest warrants are typically placed on stop lists and should be intercepted upon arrival at the country’s entry points.

“There is an arrest warrant on his head. So wherever he passes, if only he passed through the right channels, he should be arrested,” he said.

According to Mohammed, the fact that Taylor was able to enter the country without being detained raises questions about how the warrant was enforced.

“When there is an arrest warrant on you, you will be put on a stop list at all our entry points. The moment you get there, you’ll be arrested.”

The discussion followed reports that Taylor had entered Ghana and subsequently appeared before a court.

Mohammed maintained that standard procedures would ordinarily require law enforcement agencies to act immediately once a wanted person arrives in the country.

“He was not arrested. That is why people are asking questions.”

While acknowledging that Taylor eventually appeared before a court, Mohammed insisted that the circumstances surrounding his arrival deserved scrutiny.
