The National Organiser of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Joseph Yamin has has denied claims that low turnout at Ayawaso East polling stations is linked to dissatisfaction within the party base.
Acknowledging differing opinions, Yamin said, “Well, it’s everybody’s view. So we can’t say that it’s a view that they may not be right on it.,” he told MyNewsGh.
He emphasized that other factors, including fasting traditions and urban work schedules, are major contributors.
Yamin noted that while some supporters were unhappy after the primaries, the low turnout early in the day did not reflect overall disengagement.
“After everything, we have come down, the base you see are not happy. But the bases we have met… the numbers that you talk to don’t tell the full story,” he said.
He urged patience, highlighting that voters plan to cast their ballots around work and prayer schedules.
“It’s not about primaries. People will find time to vote. The early hours don’t give the full picture,” Yamin added.
