A Medical Expert and an official of the Institutional Care Division (ICD) of the Ghana Health Service, Dr. Andrew Baha, has dispelled common misconceptions about sexual performance, stating that the scientifically accepted average duration of sexual intercourse for men is between three and seven minutes.
Speaking on Joy Prime, Dr Baha said many people wrongly believe that lasting significantly longer during intimacy is an indication of better sexual performance.
“Scientifically, the average man should last between three and seven minutes,” he said.
According to him, exceeding that duration by a wide margin may not necessarily be desirable and, in some cases, could point to underlying health concerns.
“If a man goes beyond and beyond, then there are a whole lot of issues,” he stated.
Dr. Baha also noted that lasting for a shorter period does not automatically suggest a medical problem, stressing that one minute of intimacy is not necessarily abnormal.
“One minute in intimacy is not necessarily a problem,” he explained.
