Black Queens’ Grace Asantewaa joins Tigres UANL on free transfer

Ghana midfielder Grace Asantewaa has joined Mexican giants Tigres UANL Femenil on a free transfer ahead of the Apertura 2026 tournament.

The 25-year-old joins the Liga MX Femenil champions after her contract with FC Juárez expired. She completed her medical on Monday before signing her contract with Tigres on Tuesday.

Asantewaa’s move comes after the departure of Spanish forward Jenni Hermoso, which opened up a foreign player spot in the Tigres squad.

During her three-year spell with Juárez, Asantewaa made 90 appearances and scored 18 goals. She also became the club’s all-time leading goalscorer and started 69 of those matches.

The Ghana international was part of the Black Queens squad at the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

Before moving to Mexico in 2023, Asantewaa played in Spain for EDF Logroño and Real Betis.

Known for her energy, hard work and attacking ability, Asantewaa will add strength to the Tigres midfield. She is also capable of winning back possession, driving forward and making late runs into the box.

With 18 goals in 90 appearances for Juárez, the Black Queens midfielder brings valuable experience and goalscoring ability to the reigning champions.

Asantewaa will now begin a new chapter with Las Amazonas as Tigres look to defend their Liga MX Femenil title.
