Ghana’s Black Queens will compete in a three-nation international tournament in Tanzania during the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) Women’s international window from June 1 to June 9, 2026, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has confirmed.
The competition will be staged in Dar es Salaam and will bring together Ghana, hosts Tanzania, and Malawi as the participating nations intensify preparations for the upcoming Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
The tournament carries added significance this year given the scale of what lies ahead. The Confederation of African Football (CAF) rescheduled WAFCON 2026 from its original March dates to July 25 through August 16, giving Ghana’s technical staff a wider preparation window but also raising the stakes for squad cohesion and competitive sharpness heading into the summer.
The 2026 edition will be one of the biggest WAFCON tournaments in the competition’s history, expanded to 16 teams for the first time, and will serve as a qualifier for the 2027 Women’s World Cup.
Ghana have been drawn in Group D alongside Cameroon, Mali, and Cape Verde for the continental championship in Morocco. The Tanzania tournament gives coach Kim Lars Björkegren and his technical staff the opportunity to assess players, test tactical combinations, and build the competitive edge required for that demanding group stage.
The GFA is expected to announce the Black Queens squad for the tournament in the coming days, with fixtures and additional venue details to follow.
