Police have confirmed that self-styled prophet Ebo Noah will be arraigned before court over allegations of false communication intended to cause public fear and panic.
Speaking on the Black Pot show hosted by Blakk Rasta and monitored by MyNewsGh, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Seth Sewornu disclosed that the suspect is currently in custody and will be sent to court.
“We will send him to court tomorrow,” DSP Sewornu stated.
When asked about the charges, he explained: “False communication, with intent to put the public into fear and panic.”
DSP Sewornu further confirmed that the suspect remains calm while in custody. “He is very calm. And he said he regrets it,” he noted, adding that regret alone was insufficient given the consequences of the act.
According to the police, the suspect admitted that the viral content which triggered panic was created deliberately. “He said he is just creating content,” DSP Sewornu revealed.
The police say the case is being treated seriously due to its impact, including incidents where members of the public reportedly acted on the false prophecy.
“He is locked up. Tomorrow he will appear before the court,” DSP Sewornu concluded.
