The Football Association (FA) has confirmed that Chelsea have been fined £10 million and handed a suspended two-window transfer ban following breaches of the governing body’s agent regulations.
The sanctions were imposed by an independent appeal board after the Premier League club admitted to 74 breaches of FA Rule E1.2 relating to secret payments made to agents during Roman Abramovich’s ownership.
Chelsea’s current owners uncovered the issues during the club’s takeover in May 2022 and voluntarily reported the misconduct to the FA.
The transactions under scrutiny are believed to include transfers involving former Chelsea players Eden Hazard, Samuel Eto’o and Willian.
An earlier independent commission had initially imposed a suspended six-point deduction. However, that punishment was overturned on appeal and replaced with the suspended two-window transfer ban alongside the £10 million fine.
