David Gyamfi hat-trick earns Ashantigold historic Premier League win

David Gyamfi made a strong impression with a brilliant hat-trick as FC Ashantigold secured their first-ever Ghana Premier League victory with a 3-1 win over Vision FC at the Len Clay Stadium in Obuasi on Saturday.

The debutants made a fast start and took the lead in the 7th minute through Gyamfi, who calmly finished to put Karim Zito’s side ahead.

Vision FC responded well and equalised through Sheriff Mohammed Iddrisu, who scored from a fine free-kick to beat the Ashantigold goalkeeper.

The equaliser did not stop the home side, as Gyamfi stepped up again to restore Ashantigold’s lead.

The forward completed his hat-trick in the 45th minute, scoring again just before half-time to give Ashantigold a 3-1 lead at the break. He became the first player to score a hat-trick in the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season.

Zito’s side had already shown promise on the opening weekend by earning a point against Port City FC. Saturday’s win takes their total to four points from their first two matches.
