Akwatia MP Bernard Bediako Baidoo insists public opinion should not replace due process in the case involving former MASLOC boss Sedina Attionu.
While insisting that her prison sentence must be enforced, he maintained that Attionu retains every legal right available under Ghanaian law.
“If her lawyers think something untoward has happened, they should use the judicial process,” he said on Joy News.
Attionu’s legal team is challenging aspects of her conviction and sentence following her return to Ghana.
Baidoo argued that no matter how weak or unpopular a legal argument may appear, the courts remain the only proper avenue.
“Regardless of how frivolous people think a filing is, it is for the court to decide.”
He added that the Court of Appeal, not politicians or commentators, would ultimately determine whether Attionu’s conviction stands.
“It is for the three judges to decide her fate.”
