Don’t let unemployment steal your confidence – Opare Addo tells Ghanaian youth

Minister for Youth Development and Empowerment, George Opare Addo, has urged young Ghanaians not to allow unemployment or temporary setbacks to diminish their confidence, saying difficult circumstances should not define their future.

Addressing young people in a video seen by MyNewsGh, the minister acknowledged the challenges many face but encouraged them to remain hopeful and continue working towards their goals.

“My brothers and sisters, your story is not finished. Your background does not undermine your destination,” he said.

Opare Addo cautioned against allowing periods of unemployment to create a sense of hopelessness, stressing that temporary failures should not be mistaken for permanent defeat.

“Do not allow unemployment to steal your confidence. Do not allow temporary failures to convince you that you were born to fail,” he stated.

He also warned young people against measuring their success by what they see on social media, arguing that online lifestyles often do not reflect reality.

“A lot of us research social media and look at people’s fake stories on social media and we feel that our future is lost. Please, do not allow settings to destroy you,” he said.

According to the minister, every individual has a different path in life, making comparisons with others unhelpful.

“Do not compare your journey with someone else’s journey. Our journeys are different and we may run them differently,” he added.
