Dr Bossman Asare Was Smart to Resign – Prof. Charles Marfo

Former Provost of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Prof. Charles Marfo, described former Electoral Commission(EC) Deputy Chairperson Dr Bossman Asare’s resignation as a sensible decision, saying he would have faced sustained pressure had he remained in office.

Speaking on Oyerepa TV monitored by MyNewsGh.com, Prof. Marfo said Dr. Bossman Asare made the right move by stepping down, adding that his continued stay at the Electoral Commission would have attracted persistent criticism and scrutiny.

“He did well because he would not have known peace. We would have really worried him, whether there was a deal or whatever; he was smart to resign and might have even enjoyed some resignation packages,” Prof. Marfo said.

He further suggested that the former deputy chairperson may have realised that accepting the position in the first place had been a mistake.

“I think it was also a realisation that he made a mistake in even accepting the position,” he added.
