Public relations specialist Dzifa Gunu has addressed the arrest of Kofi Ofosu Nkansah by the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) over alleged false publications, calling on critics to allow investigators to complete their work.
In his remarks, Gunu said Kofi showed investigators a chat on his phone during questioning. He explained that the decision to detain him was to enable officers to search his home and prevent any possible interference with the investigation.
“The Investigators decided to detain him in order to conduct a search in his home and in an order that he won’t obstruct the investigation,” he said.
According to Gunu, the search led to the discovery of five scholarship award letters and one “no objection” letter on Ghana Scholarship Secretariat letterhead signed by former Registrar Dr Kingsley Agyeman and addressed to universities in the UK.
He added that four Affidavit of Financial Support with Dependents forms from the University of Memphis, endorsed by former Deputy Director of Administration Joseph Essah, were also retrieved, together with four bond forms from the Ghana Scholarship Secretariat.
He further cited an amendment of a scholarship letter from Micheal Nkansah and listed dates on the recovered documents, including October 8, November 26, December 17 and December 31, 2024.
“These items clearly show that Kofi Nkansah has been involved in scholarship matters,” Gunu stated. “Clearly, these dates have nothing to do with 2025 scholarships. They were all scholarships in 2024.”
He then said; “Manasseh and all those who questioned the arrest and detention should have waited for the NIB to talk.”
