Nigeria’s Edo Queens and Ghana’s Ampem Darkoa Ladies have booked their places in the semi-finals of the WAFU B Women’s Champions League qualifiers after winning their opening two matches in Ouagadougou.
Both teams have collected six points to lead Group B, while Burkina Faso’s USFA have also made a strong start as the race for the knockout stage continues.
Edo Queens have the best attacking record in the competition so far, scoring 10 goals in two games.
The Nigerian champions started with a 7-0 win over Niger’s AS Garde Nationale before beating Côte d’Ivoire’s ASEC Mimosas 3-1 in their second match.
The two victories were enough to send Edo Queens into the semi-finals with one group game still to play.
Ampem Darkoa have also been impressive, combining a strong defence with effective attacking play.
The Ghanaian champions began with a narrow 1-0 victory over ASEC Mimosas before producing a dominant 4-0 win over AS Garde Nationale.
The results have secured Ampem Darkoa’s place in the last four.
