Political Scientist, Dr Joshua Zaato has criticised recent disagreements within government, arguing that they are creating uncertainty at a time when many citizens are looking for solutions to economic challenges.
He referenced the public disagreement between the Finance Ministry and the Ministry of Food and Agriculture over funding for agricultural programmes.
“They see the Finance Minister fighting with the Agriculture Minister about resources and funds.”
According to Zaato, citizens are paying close attention to these developments and drawing conclusions about government priorities.
“Farmers need help and they need it now,” he stated on JoyNews.
He argued that disputes of that nature should be resolved quickly and privately.
“I would have thought that by now they would have reconciled it and issued a statement.”
Zaato said the situation becomes more problematic because it unfolds while many farmers are struggling with rising production costs and uncertainty about support programmes.
“If you are a farmer, you are asking yourself, where does my help come from during this farming season?”
