Franklin Cudjoe urges NPP to support Ken Ofori-Atta’s return to Ghana

IMANI Africa President Franklin Cudjoe has called on the leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to engage the diplomatic community in efforts aimed at bringing former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta back to Ghana.

Cudjoe said the party should reach out to diplomatic missions, particularly the U.S. Embassy in Accra, and encourage relevant authorities to facilitate Ofori-Atta’s return to Ghana.

According to him, such a move would allow the former finance minister to account for decisions taken during his tenure in office.

“It is imperative that the leadership of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) immediately calls on the diplomatic community, particularly the U.S. Embassy in Accra, to urge relevant U.S. authorities to extradite former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta back to Ghana,” Cudjoe stated on Facebook.

He argued that the former minister should provide answers regarding his stewardship and its impact on Ghana’s economy and relations with international partners.

Cudjoe further stated that the NPP’s response to the matter could influence public perceptions of the party’s commitment to accountability.

“Should the NPP fail to undertake this critical task, they risk losing the trust, respect, and recognition of the Ghanaian people as a party capable of delivering accountable governance,” he added.
