Naa Atswei Nee Okpey says recent fuel price reductions and the removal of certain levies are easing pressure on households and reflect improved economic management under President John Dramani Mahama.
Speaking on GHOne TV with Lily Mohammed, the Head of Corporate Affairs for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) pointed to lower fuel costs as a direct benefit to consumers.
“You were filling your tank with GH¢1,000, today you are doing GH¢600. That is money back into your pocket,” she said.
She also cited the removal of levies, including the electronic transaction levy and COVID related charges, as part of measures aimed at reducing the cost of living.
“Today, debts are not suffocating the country. We are not borrowing recklessly,” she stated, adding that government spending is being redirected to priority areas such as Free SHS, Technical and Vocational Education and Training, and infrastructure.
Naa Atswei further indicated that the outcome of the Ayawaso East by election reflects what she described as public confidence in the administration’s approach.
