NDC National Organiser Joseph Yamin has outlined what constitutes illegal mining and defended the government’s enforcement efforts.
He explained that illegal mining involves operating without proper authorization.
“Illegal mining is where you don’t have permits to do your work, where you are entering concessions that are not yours, where you are using chemicals that are not supposed to be used,” he said in an interview with MyNewsGh.
According to Yamin, regulatory bodies and task forces are actively monitoring these activities.
“All these things are being checked by the agencies that are responsible. The task forces ensuring that people do proper mining are doing their work,” he stated.
Addressing broader concerns about governance and living standards, Yamin maintained that rebuilding systems takes time.
“Destroying something is easy, but building it takes some bit of time,” he said.
He concluded by expressing confidence in the administration’s resolve.
“It’s a commitment of this government that I know John Mohammed’s government will not fail on this,” Yamin added.
