GFA disburses GH¢2 million to 20 Women’s Premier League clubs

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has released its annual financial support to all 20 clubs competing in the Gold Fields Women’s Premier League, providing a major boost to the teams as the 2026/27 season progresses.

Each club has received GH¢100,000, fulfilling a commitment made by GFA President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku to improve the financial strength of women’s football clubs and support the development of the game across the country.

The funds were disbursed on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, bringing the total amount released to GH¢2 million for the 20 participating clubs.

The support goes beyond the direct financial allocation. The GFA has also confirmed that it will cover the fees of referees and Match Commissioners for the entire season, easing some of the financial pressures on clubs and helping ensure the effective organisation of league fixtures.

In addition, each club will receive 30 pairs of football boots to support players with essential equipment for training and match-day duties.

The package also includes fuel assistance from GOIL and souvenirs from Melcom, providing further support for clubs as they travel for away matches and handle other logistical expenses.

The release of the funds and additional resources reflects the GFA’s continued commitment to improving the conditions of women’s football in Ghana, with all 20 clubs set to benefit from the assistance during the 2026/27 campaign.
