The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has selected 20 young match officials for the second edition of the MTN Elite U-19 Championship.
The selection includes 10 referees and 10 assistant referees from the GFA’s Catch Them Young Referees initiative.
The officials will officiate matches at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram during the tournament.
The championship will run from August 24 to September 4, 2026, with 10 U-19 Regional teams competing for the title.
The tournament will give the young referees valuable experience by allowing them to officiate competitive youth matches in a structured environment.
It will also provide a platform for young players to showcase their talent, improve their skills and compete against some of the country’s best emerging footballers.
The players will also have the chance to catch the attention of national youth team selectors and earn future opportunities with Ghana’s youth national teams.
Backed by MTN Ghana, the Elite U-19 Championship forms part of the GFA’s youth development strategy under its “Power to the Youth” programme.
The competition is aimed at creating a clear pathway for young footballers and match officials to progress from grassroots and regional football to the highest levels of the game.
