Ghana Loses Actress Beverly Afaglo Days Before Birthday

Ghanaian actress Beverly Afaglo Baah died on Sunday, May 24, just four days before what would have been her birthday on May 28, leaving Ghana’s entertainment industry in mourning and silencing a screen presence that spanned two decades.

Her husband, Eugene Kwadwo Boadu Baah, widely known as Choirmaster of the hiplife group Praye, confirmed the news in an emotional social media post that drew an immediate outpouring of condolences from across Ghana’s entertainment community.

“My heart is shattered beyond words,” he wrote, in a tribute that described his wife as his strength and his greatest supporter.

Details surrounding the cause of death have not yet been made public.

Beverly Afaglo’s screen career began in 2006 with Return of Beyonce and stretched through a string of productions including Crime to Christ, Girls Connection, Never Again, Turn Me On, and The Game. She became one of the more recognisable faces in Ghanaian film across that period, known for her natural screen presence and her willingness to speak openly about the challenges facing actors in the local industry.

Away from acting, she trained at the Ghana Institute of Journalism, operated Glamour Beauty Salon in Tema, and launched a food venture called Traffic Shawarma in April 2024, reflecting an entrepreneurial drive that ran alongside her artistic career.

Choirmaster pledged to carry forward the plans and projects they had built together, saying her memory would remain with him forever.

Beverly Afaglo Baah was 42 years old.
