Ghana needs resources before introducing live court broadcasts – Ackah-Boafo admits

Justice of the Supreme Court, Justice Kweku Tawiah Ackah-Boafo, has said introducing live broadcasts of court proceedings will require investment in technology and infrastructure.

He said although he supports the idea, practical challenges must first be addressed.

“If we are to have a website, a webcam that can stream live, that will bring in the money and financial issue.”

He said Ghana’s courts currently do not have the resources needed to implement such a system.

“If we have the financial means, which we don’t, we should have the opportunity of live streaming some of these,” he said on JoyNews’ The Law.

Justice Ackah-Boafo maintained that live streaming could be introduced for selected proceedings once the necessary infrastructure is available.
