Ghana urges diplomatic solutions amid Middle East conflict

During an appearance on JoyNews’ Newsfile, Government Spokesperson, Felix Kwakye Ofosu stressed the importance of diplomacy in resolving the conflict that led to the attack on Ghanaian peacekeepers.

“Whatever it is, I think that dialogue is the way to go,” he said.

“We hope that this conflict is wrapped up quickly so that normalcy returns.”

He pointed to previous mediation efforts aimed at addressing nuclear proliferation in the region.

“There were credible reports of some gains being made in negotiations to ensure that nuclear proliferation was brought under control,” he said.

Kwakye Ofosu highlighted the danger posed to international peace and security.

“As the country whose troops have been at the receiving end of this attack, we need to take it very seriously.

“That is why we have lodged this formal complaint.”
