Ghanaian forward Joseph Opoku shines in Swansea City’s win

Ghanaian forward Joseph Opoku was among the standout performers as Swansea City bounced back to winning form with a convincing 4-0 victory over Blackburn Rovers in the English Championship on Saturday.

The 21-year-old found the net and registered an assist as the Welsh outfit secured a comfortable home win, ending their recent disappointing run.

Opoku, who moved to Swansea from Belgian club Zulte Waregem during the summer transfer window, played a key role in the hosts’ early dominance.

He set up Stephen Eustaquio for the opening goal inside the first 10 minutes before doubling Swansea’s advantage midway through the first half.

The Ghanaian capitalised on a defensive error by Tom Atcheson to find space in a dangerous position before beating goalkeeper Balazs Toth with a composed finish.

Filip Lissah extended Swansea’s lead before the interval, ensuring Vitor Matos’ side went into the break with a three-goal cushion.

Ross Stewart added the fourth goal after the restart to complete an emphatic afternoon for the hosts.

Opoku’s latest performance takes his tally to five goal contributions in 12 appearances since arriving from Zulte Waregem in the summer.

The result provides Swansea with a timely boost following last weekend’s defeat to Queens Park Rangers, while the Ghanaian forward continues to make a growing impact in his new surroundings.
