Ghanaians Think I’m a Lazy Artiste – Mophty

Ghanaian artiste Mophty has expressed frustration over what he describes as the media’s continued focus on his collaboration with Mr Drew, saying it has contributed to the perception that he is no longer actively making music.

Mophty said media interviews and public conversations about his career often focus on his song “Case” with Mr Drew, overshadowing the other songs he has released since then.

He said on Kumasi-based Angel FM the situation has made it difficult for him to introduce audiences to the newer side of his artistry, adding that some Ghanaians continue to question what happened to his music despite his continued releases.

“When they meet me, they ask me why they are not hearing from me again, especially in my social media comments,” he said.

Mophty maintained that he has released several songs since “Case” and believes the persistent attention on the collaboration has created a misleading impression of his work.

“I have released lots of good songs,” he stated.

The artiste also suggested that a lack of strong record-label support has made it harder to get attention for his newer music.

“I think it is because I don’t have a label machinery backing me,” he said.
