I became scandalised – Solomon Owusu backs Sedina Tamakloe

Former NPP member Solomon Owusu says the contents of the Court of Appeal judgment in the Sedina Tamakloe case left him questioning how some people are treated within Ghana’s justice system.

According to Owusu, he dedicated several hours to reading the court’s 94-page decision before reaching his conclusion.

“I got the full judgment. It’s a 94-page judgment. I expended money to print it. I printed it, bound it and took four hours to read it,” he said on Joy Prime.

He noted that his reaction changed after carefully studying the reasons outlined by the Court of Appeal.

“When I read the judgment, immediately I became scandalised,” Owusu stated.

He said the document prompted him to reflect on what he described as the treatment of individuals within the justice process.

“I said, ‘What? Why must a country, why must we sit down for innocent souls to be done in this manner?’” he said.

Owusu maintained that public discussions about court decisions should be based on the actual contents of judgments rather than only summaries or initial reports.
