Deputy Attorney-General and Minister for Justice Justice Srem Sai has confirmed that the High Court has issued a warrant for the arrest of Manhyia South MP Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah over an ongoing EOCO investigation.
Justice Sai said the warrant follows what he described as the MP’s refusal to honour an EOCO criminal investigative invitation issued in February 2026.
“I can confirm that the High Court has issued a warrant for the arrest of Mr AGYEI BAFFOUR AWUAH (Hon. MP), who has, since February 2026, refused to honour an EOCO criminal investigative invitation,” he said in a statement on September 30.
According to the Deputy Attorney-General, the intended arrest has to do with an investigation into unauthorised financial transactions involving SIC Life Savings and Loans Company Limited.
“Mr AWUAH’s imminent arrest is part of an inquiry by EOCO into a complaint of unauthorized financial transactions at SIC LIFE SAVINGS & LOANS COMPANY LTD resulting in crimes of financial loss, dissipation of public funds, money laundering, among others,” he said.
The development comes a week after EOCO officers attempted to arrest Baffour Awuah at the Accra High Court on September 23. EOCO said at the time that the action followed two invitations issued to the MP in February which were not honoured.
The MP has disputed EOCO’s account. His lawyers said the February correspondence concerned SIC Life, a client of his law firm, and that a representative of the firm subsequently engaged EOCO on three occasions and submitted a written statement on April 30.
