Ghanaian TikToker Almed has explained that his confrontation with a police officer at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital happened after he tried to defend his friends against what he described as a false accusation.
According to him, reports suggesting that the incident was about him were inaccurate, saying he was only responding after the officer allegedly claimed his friends were kissing inside a car.
“I’m really not happy with the way people and bloggers are publishing fake news about me. When the issue had nothing to do with me, it was more of me defending my friends from a police officer that was accusing them of kissing, when nothing like that happened,” he said.
Almed explained that he had gone to the hospital to visit a friend who had undergone surgery. He said after security officials stopped them from entering the surgical ward because visiting hours had ended, his friends returned to sit in their car while he tried again to convince security to allow him entry.
He said when he returned, he noticed a police officer speaking with his friends.
According to Almed, the officer told his friends that he had a picture of them kissing, a claim he disputed.
“My friends were sitting wide apart, window to window, and the light in the car at the backseat was on. I could see whatever was going on in the car,” he said.
He added that he went live on social media because he felt the situation could escalate and wanted a record of what was happening.
