Old Tafo MP, Vincent Ekow Assafuah, has drawn on his past experience at the Ministry of Education to speak on the SHS curriculum controversy.
He reminded viewers of his background. “I was the Public Relations Officer for the Ministry of Education from 2017 to 2020,” he said on Joy News’ Newsfile monitored by MyNewsGh.
According to him, he understands how curriculum documents are developed and approved.
“That is why I am concerned,” Assafuah explained. “These things do not enter documents by accident.”
His comments come after NaCCA withdrew a teacher manual over content on gender identity. The council admitted the material did not align with Ghanaian values and released a revised version.
But Assafuah said the new document still has problems. “The revised version is even worse,” he stated. “That is why I am raising the alarm.”
He praised NaCCA for listening to public concerns. “I commend them for withdrawing the first one,” he said. “Their consistency is important.”
However, he insisted more work must be done. “We need to thoroughly review all materials,” he added. “Our children deserve better.”
