Shatta Wale says he warned members of his team that police could intervene at ShattaFest UK because he was not convinced by the way the event was being organised.
The dancehall musician said he repeatedly shared his concerns with people close to him before the concert.
“I tell my team, including my wife. I told them, ‘The way this guy is organising things, police will come there,’” he said in a video shared online.
Shatta Wale explained that he formed that opinion even before seeing the complete setup at the venue.
“I don’t even see the setup yet, but I see what he is trying to do,” he stated.
After the event was halted, the musician said he appreciated the response from the emergency services and local authorities.
“I thank the UK police, the paramedics team, everybody, the council, everybody that really stopped the show,” he said.
Shatta Wale said their intervention helped prevent the situation from becoming worse.
His remarks come after ShattaFest UK was shut down following an incident outside the venue that led to a crowd surge, with emergency services responding to people who required medical assistance.
