Member of Parliament for Nhyiaeso, Hon. Dr. Stephen Amoah, popularly known as Sticka, has rejected claims that he sought appointment as Finance Minister or that he was denied the position due to internal party opposition.
Speaking to Serwaa Amihere on GHOne monitored by MyNewsGh, Dr. Amoah stressed that his comments had been misinterpreted and inaccurately reported.
“I never said that I wanted to be a finance minister,” he stated. “I never said that somebody fought against me becoming finance minister.”
According to him, the only point he made was that former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo had, at one point, indicated an intention to appoint him as a Minister of State in charge of Finance, not as Finance Minister.
“I said that Nana Addo actually went to a very dignified person and told him that he was going to make me Minister of State in charge of Finance, and somebody kicked against that, preferring his own person,” he explained.
Dr. Amoah said he never mentioned names and questioned why others had attributed motives and statements to him that he did not make.
“Did I mention somebody’s name?” he asked.
“So why are people taking it and insulting me?”
