Investigative journalist, Manasseh Azure Awuni has revealed that he faced strong resistance when he began investigating Zoomlion because many people were unwilling to accept criticism of the company.
“When I started nobody was prepared to hear anything bad about this company because it had a lot of influence in the media and in society,” he said.
The investigative journalist explained that despite the opposition, he continued publishing stories on the company.
“I stayed across continuously reporting on the activities and the corruption,” he stated.
According to him, sustained reporting eventually changed public opinion.
“Today many people believe that that company is doing something wrong,” he said.
Manasseh argued that stopping the investigations would have allowed the company to avoid scrutiny.
“If I had stopped because I didn’t get support, that company would have continued to do all the terrible things that I’ve been reporting about,” he added.
